Transparency Rules: Or Does It?

Speakers: Arno van Berkel (CEO / NLM, New Landscape Music), Margriet Koedooder (Entertainment lawyer / partner, De Vos & Partners Advocaten)

In July 2024 the EU added a transparency obligation to author contract law that should enable authors and performers to be able to verify the fairness of their remuneration, and to get sufficient information from publishers and labels regarding the exploitation of their music rights involved. In principle this is a significant move forward in terms of artists being able to verify if they are being paid fairly... but does it work, and can you really demand to know what your label or publisher is doing with your money? Expert entertainment lawyer Koedooder and music industry expert Van Berkel are at ADE Pro to tell you exactly what's really going on.
