Fraud in Music Streaming
Conference
Fraud in Music Streaming
Speakers: Andrew Batey (Co-Founder, Beatdapp), Diederik d'Engelbronner (Senior Director of Operations, Downtown Music), Andy Daniell (Director of A&R, Defected)
Moderator: Shannon Herber (Head of Artist Strategy & Music Business Development, Campaign)
At least 10% of all music streamed globally is fraudulent. In other words, all stakeholders in the digital music supply chain are losing money as a result, with the figure estimated at $2bn to $3bn in streaming revenue ‘going missing’ every year. The professionality and scale of fraud has significantly evolved over the years and so have the people behind it, with fraud being tied to some of the biggest organized crime organizations in the world. This panel will explain how these fraudsters work by sharing multiple ‘creative’ cases, and in addition, will look at the impact on the industry through the eyes of an artist and music label. Last but not least, Andrew Batey from Beatdapp will elaborate on how to detect and prevent this type of fraud.
