Building Bridges Through Music: Smallgod
Speaker: Nana 'Smallgod' Appiasei (Artist)
Nana Appiasei, beter known as Smallgod, has been at the forefront of spreading urgent and ecxiting electronic music sounds and scenes in Africa for years now. Hailing from Ghana, and spending parts of his formative years in both the United Kingdom and The Netherlands, he is a global music pioneer, connecting, helping and managing many emerging Ghanaian artists, starting several companies as an entrepreneur in the Ghanaian music industry, and working with local and diaspora fashion brands. He is referred to as the 'Accra President' and is often the first point of contact both for international acts coming into Ghana, as well as for many Ghanaian artists building bridges abroad. Apart from his unique point of view as manager, entrepeneur, streetwear connaisseur and international ambassador for his culture, Smallgod is also an established artist, creating an unique blend of afrobeats, afropop, drill and other musical genres. The synthesis of popular global and diasporic club music: a vibrant, wildly successful fusion of international musical influences, raw, progressive and thrilling. At ADE Beats Smallgod will talk about the scenes in London and Accra, share his insight on creating fresh new networks and opportunities across borders, breaking new territory and markets, and working together on truly global careers, and he shares the latest electronic music trends and developments that excite him.
