BIRD presents: Marcellus Pittman, Julion De’Angelo, Nedda Sou & Intimate Connection

Since 2010, BIRD has been a leading platform for black, soulful music movements in
the Netherlands. Whether it's jazz from West London, techno from Detroit or disco
from Chicago, everything comes together at BIRD. We have put together an evening
for the international ADE platform that celebrates the versatility of black electronic
music in all its facets. Expect a unique mix of established artists and emerging talent,
each representing the rich history and dynamic future of these music movements.

Marcellus Pittman, a stalwart of Detroit's vibrant dance music scene, stands out for
his masterful fusion of house, techno, and funk. With releases on influential labels like
Unirhythm, Sound Signature, and 3 Chairs, Pittman has earned a reputation for
curating unforgettable sonic experiences that captivate dance floors worldwide. His
dynamic performances, including at renowned venues such as Berghain in Berlin and
Pigalle in Paris, showcase his versatility and deep connection to the essence of dance
music. Don't miss the chance to immerse yourself in his magical beats and dance the
night away with one of the most acclaimed DJs to ever do it.

Julion De’Angelo, a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and DJ originally from North
Carolina and now based in Detroit, MI, excels in bass, cello, and drums across a wide
range of genres, including free jazz, metal, noise, and punk. His diverse experience
has deepened his musicianship and shaped a constantly evolving sound rooted in the
Black American experience. His debut EP for Mother Tongue exemplifies his ability to
blend experimental elements with a soulful modern black sound. With a steady
stream of releases, De’Angelo has solidified his reputation as a bold sonic innovator,
expanding the dance floor with fearless, emotive compositions.

Nedda Sou her journey began on the dance floor, igniting a career that breaks
boundaries and inspires dancers worldwide. As a DJ, she follows a straightforward
rule for her playlists: if it makes her sing or dance, it's included. Her performances at
renowned festivals and clubs like Paradiso, De School, Marktkantine, DJOON, Selectors, DTRH, DGTL, and Dekmantel, along with residencies at Worldwide FM and RadioRadio, underscore her rising star status.

Intimate Connection
is the collaboration between Phil Peoples (akaPhilip Powel), co-founder of Rotterdam's BIRD, and DJ Playing WithKnives. With over thirty years of experience, they blend musicalinfluences from New York’s gritty beats,Chicago house, Detroit techno,and London’s eclectic scene. Samira crafts a globalmusical journey, mixing genres from Disco to Techno. Both have honedtheir craft ondance floors worldwide, infusing their sets with vibrant energy.

Yellow House

We are a modern restaurant & rooftop bar centred around music and worldly food, located in the historic Houthaven area. During the day, we function as a productive workspace with the option to lunch, transitioning into a lively evening spot offering an ever-changing list of cocktails, dinner, snacks and a selection of natural wines.

Supported by our big soundsystem we host an eclectic musical program and serve as an intimate performance space for local and international talent.

Not to worry! Make sure to contact the event (or their ticketing provider) you are visiting as soon as possible with as many details about your order; name, email address, amount of tickets, etc. Once they've recovered your order, the tickets can be resent to your email.

Most festival events have an age limit of 18+ (and sometimes even 21+ or 23+). These are Dutch governmental rules which state that below the age of 18 you are not allowed to enter a club.

Please double-check the promoter's or venue's website to be sure you can access the event!

Yes, the Pro Pass grants you access to all ADE official festival events. Even if a festival event is sold out, you can still access the event with your ADE Pro Pass wristband. During ADE there are over 500 festival events and hundreds more cultural and conference events you can enter with the wristband. One thing to keep in mind is that there is a limited capacity that each venue can take into account for ADE Pro wristband holders. This means that, for some of the more crowded events, you have to arrive early to ensure attendance. Once capacity is reached, ADE Pro holders will be let into the event on a one in-one-out basis.

We dance together, so please be mindful of yourself and each other. We expect an open attitude from our visitors towards other guests, regardless of their origin, gender, sexual orientation, religion and age. If you see or experience any unwanted attention, harassment or behavior of any kind that makes you uncomfortable, please speak out and notify staff.
