Volkshotel's ADE'24 highlights you don’t want to miss

For many sound system fans, Doka is the place to be. The listening bar, with its top-notch surround sound and intimate interior, will once again be the musical hotspot during Volkshotel's ADE program. Did you know that Doka is an abbreviation of ‘Donkere Kamer’ (Darkroom)? The name pays homage to the building's history as the former headquarters of one of the Netherlands' oldest and most progressive newspapers, De Volkskrant, where darkrooms were used to develop the photographs that brought the news to life.

While it's hard to choose just a few favourites, here's a look at the highlights at Doka this year:

Doka Electronic Live Sessions

Doka’s Electronic Live Sessions kick off the ADE Wednesday. This monthly reunion invites live electronic music creators to deliver a cutting-edge mix of prepared sets and live improvisations. Quazar, De Sluwe Vos, DJ OSX, and Julien Chaptal play the ADE edition.

United Identities x Doka Studio

Dutch music imprint United Identities, spearheaded by the one and only CARISTA, is back at Doka for its annual takeover. This year’s lineup is a powerhouse, featuring Charmaine, Dean Bryce, and Refuge Worldwide co-founder Richard Akingbehin, alongside CARISTA herself, on ADE Thursday.

Rhythm Section & Lost Grooves x Doka Studio

Rhythm Section joins forces with longtime collaborators and friends Lost Groove. This steamy dance night features a special live performance from Brazilian artist Zopelar and Amsterdam's own Retromigration. He's also playing a powerful DJ set with his co-leading light at Lost Groove, DJ Pointless. Rhythm Section's Bradley Zero will undoubtedly maintain that energy throughout the night, making this event a true highlight at Volkshotel.

Steppin’ Into Tomorrow x Doka Studio

Also on the same night is the highly anticipated return of Amsterdam’s finest Steppin’ Into Tomorrow collective, delivering a high-energy club night. True to the collective’s eclectic vision, the event will feature house heavyweight Volcov, along with DJ Vasco and Ays, who will bring their own unique flair to the mix.

Get ready to dig through the vinyl crates and unearth your next favourite tune.

Unwind and reconnect with some arts and craft

As ADE draws to an end the ADE Arts & Culture event Knits and Notes gathering offers a creative sanctuary to unwind and reconnect after a hectic ADE week. Blending music, art, craft, and community, the event includes a collaborative knitting performance led by Rosa Mol and a thought-provoking lecture on rhythm and crafting by Nina Dam, all soundtracked by DJ SERKET's introspective electronic beats. Whether you’re a seasoned crafter or new to the art, this is the perfect place to relax, unwind, and let your hands and mind flow freely.
