Following up on news about flying to Amsterdam with KLM and Brands to the fore at ADE pro we are delighted to announce that House of China returns to the ADE conference program this year.
China’s electronic music scene sprang into existence in the late 1990s. Since, the state has grown to become the most populous country in the world with the second largest economy. It won’t come as a surprise that dance music in China has been in a state of constant development as well. In fact: its industry has been growing exponentially, generating a boom in festivals, clubs, labels and artists throughout many of its 26 provinces.
For the second year in a row, House of China will explore the latest trends and developments in the Chinese dance scene, which will be thoroughly investigated at the hand of seven panels and a range of other program parts. Next to a focus on festivals, marketing and music streaming, House of China takes a closer look into local club scenes. Both underground and mainstream club culture have sprouted thriving creative businesses that attract thousands of clubbers and DJs from all over the world.
This year’s significantly larger edition opens on Wednesday October 16th and will host not three but five of China’s foremost companies in electronic music including BrotherHood Music, FEVER NetEase, ISY, Mai Ai and Vision & Colour.
The first panel kicks off with A Star is (Not) Born: Building New Artists within the Chinese Media Network in which pros explain how navigating today’s diverse media landscape can make or break a career. For an examination of what clubbing in China will look like in 2025, Holograms, Robots & Storytelling: the Future of Clubbing in China is your go to. During Buying IP or Building it, there will be a closer look at the best way to let intellectual property succeed, while another panel investigates how festivals can build the reputation of an entire city.
With Chinese nightlife’s rise to prominence, comes an influx of big name DJs. In the keynote My China a special guest will speak about his love and strategy for the country. During China’s New Wave you will be introduced to the next generation of artists. The panel discussions on the mechanisms behind growing booking fees - One for the Price of Two? Towards Reasonable Booking Fees- and What a Difference a Year Makes: Streaming Royalties in China will round off the day, after which the event closes with networking drinks.
Come and visit House of China on Wednesday, October 16th from 12 PM until 7 PM at De Balie.
