Glimpses of ADE Festival 2025 and standout sets from last year's events

Friday, 04 April 2025
ADE Festival 2025 is officially on the horizon. Take an early look at the first events shaping this year’s edition and revisit some of the most talked-about sets from last year. Let the anticipation for festival season begin.

First announcements: techno temples

Melkweg returns to ADE with a special jubilee: '20 years of Dave Clarke Presents'. What started as a forward-thinking techno night has, twenty years later, grown into one of ADE’s longest-standing traditions. The legacy continues with an anniversary edition on ADE Friday that shows exactly why it’s remained a cornerstone of Melkweg's ADE program, led, as always, by the Baron of Techno himself. Dave Clarke invites Afra, FJAAK, Helena Hauff, Marcel Dettmann, MOTORPSYCH!!! (Trentemøller b2b TOM And His Computer), and more. Full line-up and tickets via Melkweg.

A harder style highlight of ADE24 was Paula Temple, who played at last year's 'Dave Clarke Presents'. Her set focuses on her appreciation of Roland's TR-909 and 303 drum machines, which were important in the development of heaps of musical styles we celebrate at ADE Festival. Listen to Paula Temple at ADE24.

Speedy J returns to Paradiso this ADE with his STOOR crew for a two-day edition of STOOR Live, taking place on ADE Saturday and Sunday. Spread across both halls, the event centers around fully improvised hardware jam sessions and has been an absolute highlight of previous ADE Festival editions. Pink Noise will host Paradiso's Upstairs Room again. For info & tickets: STOOR's ADE Saturday and STOOR's ADE Sunday.

Listen to the recording of STOOR Live in Paradiso on ADE24's Sunday, with Kangding Ray x Mathew Jonson x Rødhåd x Steffi x Speedy J Live!

Shaping electronic music culture

ADE is rooted in clubs. Since day one, nightclubs are where ideas take shape, communities form, and sound becomes something you feel. At ADE, clubs are the beating heart of the night, each one with its own story, energy, and role in shaping electronic music culture. These are the spaces where the scene lives and evolves.

RAUM

One of last year's absolute highlights was Club RAUM's weekender, where this b2b between Mama Snake and Nene H took place. The Spielraum x Maricas x La Noche x Adonis weekender was one of the most sought-after and talked about events of ADE 2024, embodying the raw energy and chemistry dancers look for in nightlife. Listen to this three-hour recording of the inauguration of the Expo at Club RAUM, and do watch their space, as Club RAUM will return to ADE this year as well.

Next to RAUM, more clubs are cooking up their ADE25 plans.
THE OTHER SIDE, nachbar, and Shelter
have already confirmed their return to ADE25 Festival.

Can't get enough of sweaty clubs? Dive into this recording of Ogazón b2b Marcel Dettmann from Breakfast Club's ADE Saturday in RADION.

Big

rooms at an even larger ADE25

Amsterdam Dance Event wouldn't be complete if it wasn't for major festivals, too. As always, titans like Awakenings, DGTL, Intercell, Audio Obscura, Into the Woods, and many (!) more to follow, will participate in ADE this year, unveiling their lineups over the coming months.

DGTL
has already teased us with the launch of two ADE events: German techno marching collective MEUTE on ADE Friday, and Australian electro pop band Confidence Man on ADE Thursday. Last year, one of the must-sees at DGTL was this set by TWIENA. This recording was taken from DGTL's ADE: 'Brutalismus 3000 Invites' night, which saw dancers swarm through the NDSM Wharf.

Over at Awakening's Gashouder on ADE Thursday last year, Four Tet had dancers in a chockehold with his almost five-hour-long set, including his signature curveballs all around. Marlon Hoffstadt, man of the hour, told dancers it was time to get on the floor, taking over Gashouder with his Awakenings 'Daddycation' show a day before.

If that's not enough big rooms: Intercell recently uploaded all of their ADE24 sets. Tune back in and look ahead.
