First ADE Lab speakers drop includes Narciss, Indira Paganotto & Joseph Capriati, DJ MELL G & more

Wednesday, 11 September 2024
ADE Lab is back with a fully stacked four-day program. It's time to reveal the first people who will show you the ropes of electronic music. The first drop of highlights includes names like Narciss, Indira Paganotto & Joseph Capriati, DJ MELL G, MARRØN, Freddy K, and more.

Building a community

When you visit ADE Lab, you're part of a community. Especially with the recently announced four courses of ADE Lab, you'll find your people quickly and in the same place. In case you missed it: this year during the four days of learning and creating at De Brakke Grond, we're inviting you to participate in four categories of ADE Lab panels. Choose whether you want to learn more about producing, visual arts, becoming a performing artist, or the ins and outs of the electronic music industry, and kickstart your career in that domain. If you 'graduate' from one of our four courses, you'll instantly be added to the ADE Lab Alumni community.

A sense of community binds our electronic music scene, giving us a sense of freedom and belonging. That's why we've invited artists who have carefully and sustainably crafted their own communities, each in their own way. Learn from them at ADE Lab:

Staying Grounded as a Touring DJ with DJ MELL G

After her ADE Friday morning ambient set, DJ MELL G creates her own community at ADE Lab by opening up about the emotional side of her art. Since the start of her musical journey, DJ MELL G has been advocating about mental health in the electronic nightlife scene, having faced her own share of challenges navigating 'the industry'. Besides being very open about her borderline personality disorder, DJ MELL G speaks freely about touring sustainably. Alongside SolSync founder and nightlife health coach Veronique Leon, the Hamburg-based DJ, producer, and JUICY GANG RECORDS founder will dive into taking good care of yourself as a touring artist. Conquer this unique scene in a way that works best for you, and join this panel to learn how!

Playing, Producing and Processing Vinyl with Freddy K & From Studio to the Shop

This session will explore Freddy K's unwavering passion for sharing the artistry of vinyl. We will delve into the renaissance vinyl is experiencing and provide practical, actionable insights into running a successful vinyl-focused label. Whether you are a DJ, a music producer, or a future industry professional, Freddy K's abundance of experience and knowledge with the vinyl medium will empower you with a deeper understanding of the art form. Join him at ADE Lab to be part of the conversation on the future of vinyl in the ever-evolving world of electronic music.

If you want to take it a step further, you can join Freddy K together with other industry professionals later in the afternoon on ADE Friday for the intimate workshop 'From Studio to the Shop'.

Curating Culture with MARRØN

MARRØN follows in the footsteps of Spekki Webu and Mama Snake and shares how his unique approach to techno brings people together. MARRØN is a dynamic force in Amsterdam's underground music scene.

During the panel 'Curating Culture', he explores how a DJ creates a communal space for connection, just like he did with the event series 'Eerste Communie' in Amsterdam. MARRØN employs fast and spiritual rhythmics inspired by his roots and will share his approach to shaping the dance floor with us.

New sounds and directions

Exploring new sounds to move your music career and artistic vision forward is a given in electronic music. These artists are willing to open up about their recent developments and share their personal stories at ADE Lab.

Exploring Creative Synergy with Indira Paganotto & Joseph Capriati

Indira Paganotto and Joseph Capriati have been headlining shows worldwide in the last couple of years. Earlier this year, the two creative heavyweights decided to bundle their creative energy into their newly released EP' Mantra'. Dave Clarke will explore the collaborative and ideation process that defined Indira Paganotto and Joseph Capriati's project in this session on ADE Saturday, focusing on the impact of their connection on their artistic output.

Narciss’ Shifting Sounds

Narciss has immersed themselves in everything rhythmic and groovy since they could walk. Recently, the popular artist has been on a journey of self-discovery throughout their career, resulting in the purest form of self-expression. Narciss leaned into genres such as trance, Eurodance, and high-paced BPMs and was associated with other names like Marlon Hoffstadt and Malugi, and has recently explored other sounds as well. When Narciss stepped behind the decks, crowds wanted them to deliver exactly what they expected, which doesn't align with their ever-changing feelings towards how they express themselves.

How do you pivot from the path you have been walking on? With their manager Terry Ferguson and agent Tim Dreske, Narciss will open up about this personal evolution.

DJ Babatr: The Story of Raptor House

After two decades of pioneering the Raptor House genre, Venezuelan DJ Babatr is finally receiving recognition for his pivotal role in creating a musical movement that captured the energy and spirit of the streets of Caracas. In this conversation at ADE Lab, we'll dive deep into the origins of Raptor House and his rise to becoming a global underground phenomenon that speaks to the experience of marginalized communities.

Discover how DJ Babatr continues to bring the world a taste of Raptor House and the cultural significance behind this Latin Caribbean sound.
