Conference highlights ADE Saturday
On Saturday we slow down on the business side of ADE, however there are plenty things left to do. ADE Sound Lab is still going strong at De Brakke Grond and Compagnietheater and definitely take your time to explore our ADE by Day program.
MoMI: Museum of Modern Instruments
ADE invited gearhead extraordinaire and artist Arp Frique to curate MoMI: our miniature Museum of Modern Instruments. Starting with the Theremin, ending with everything cutting edge 2019; in this pop-up museum you will find some of the most important and recognizable instruments in music history, including a few overlooked classics and a couple of rare items. It is all there in a tour through the evolution of electronic musical instruments. There’ll be the analogue, modular and digital synthesizers that shaped the sound of electronic music and far beyond, an illustration of the evolution of the drum machine, samplers, effects, a Stockhausen-style setup, the introduction of the computer into the way we make music and more.
Flightcase of: rRoxymore at ADE Sound Lab
In this unique chance to see the inside cockpit of a spaceship, rRoxymore will be deconstructing her live setup, explaining a little about how she accumulated the pieces of kit she uses, and demonstrating a little of the power of each part of the setup.
ADE MusicTalks: Roger Linn at ADE Sound Lab
Has anyone got their sonic signature on as great a spread of music as Grammy award winner Roger Linn? He's perhaps most famous for revolutionising electronic rhythm making not once, but twice: first by designing the first sampling drum machine, the LM-1 and its follow-up the LinnDrum, and second by creating the Akai MPC range of samplers. We are very honored to have Linn at ADE as part of our 100 years of electronic music instruments.
Body In Water dance performance at ADE Zen Space
ADE Zen Space is packed with art installations, performances, audiovisual meditative sessions and all things zen. Body In Water is a 20 minute collaboration between British artist Oscar Morgan under his Portrait alias & choreographer Magnus Westwell. The piece looks at the fertile relationship between left-field electronic music & contemporary dance, touching on ideas to do with physical form, space & dynamism in both disciplines.
Moog’s Psychedelic Synthesizer Sanctuary at ADE Sound Lab
Moog Music welcomes ADE attendees to take a break from the norm and explore a non-ordinary state of consciousness through the unlimited possibilities of pure analog sound as part of our 100 years of electronic music celebration. Visit Moog Music in the ADE Sound Lab to get hands on and explore the magic of Moog Synthesizers, including the 16-voice polyphonic Moog One, Legacy Moog Modular Systems, and the new semi-modular Matriarch, then engage with Moog Synthesizer Specialists and Moog Factory Engineers to deepen your synthesis experience.

Since music video channels have transformed into reality soap stations, the music video consumer is dependent on the world wide web. The amount of videos on offer is endless, but also overwhelming and unclear. At Melkweg Cinema, they will explore the work of the famous American producer Steven Ellison aka Flying Lotus, with a special link to Japanese artists and anime in the context of our 'Cool Japan Anime' series.
Closing panel at ADE Sound Lab: DEMOLITION XXIV
Demolition is a panel of DJs, producers and music industry figures headed by legendary DJ Dave Clarke, who are ready to give you an honest appraisal of your work, and maybe even some tips as how to improve what you're doing. As Clarke says: “Although the title of the panel suggests explosive commentary you should see this as an opportunity to get support and great insight into your unsigned music by some of the top professionals in the field.
The perfect ending of your uptempo week
Technically not on Saturday, but make sure to come over to the NDSM Wharf on Sunday because the ADE Hangover is the perfect ending of your up tempo week. It is transformed into an oasis of relaxation where you are able to reenergize after a sizzling week of ADE. In a setting of art installations, nurturing nutrition and craft beers you and your friends can enjoy a free program of live bands and DJs. All stages are covered to protect your tired eyes from a throbbing hangover. Warm up in the hot tubs or the sauna, and cool down whilst strolling past the numerous market stalls. And don't forget to bring your friends because it’s free entrance for all.
