Congratulations to stay vaag as Demolition XXVII's big winner

Monday, 02 December 2024
This year’s ADE Lab Demolition contest led by Dave Clarke once again showcased an incredible range of talent, and after a thrilling round of deliberations, we’re proud to announce Julia Kuipers aka stay vaag as the winner of Demolition XXVII!

The winning track: "let me go"

Julia’s track, "let me go", captivated the panel with its blend of jungle, drum & bass, and breakcore elements, infused with nostalgic and ethereal sounds. Inspired by jungle music produced on the Amiga 500, Julia set out to create a track that maintained the raw essence of the genre while adding her unique twist. The result? A song that’s deeply atmospheric and resonant.

When asked about her inspiration, Julia shared, "I've been listening to a lot of atmospheric genres like vaporwave and exploring sound design in deep dub and left-field bass. [This track] captures a sad nostalgic feeling, and seeing it resonate with others, especially in the contest, feels really rewarding."

A Star in the Making

Born and raised in the Netherlands, Julia has been honing her craft for the past eight years, dedicating herself almost full-time to music production in the last six months. Her focus on bass-heavy genres and sound design has already earned her a distinctive style, which shines through in "let me go."

"let me go" has been signed to Death by Dagger and will soon see an official release in 2025. Julia’s plans for the upcoming year include releasing more music, introducing her work to new audiences, and collaborating with other artists.
