Seiya Matsumiya (JP)

Seiya Matsumiya is a co-founder and CEO of Black Cat White Cat Music. Having started his life in music in the thriving music scene of southern California in the early 2000s, he studied at Berklee Colege of Music, after which he returned to Los Angeles to pursue a career as an artist. He performed alongside notable musicians such as Flea, Cat Power, and Maroon 5, while also starting a career in music for film/TV/advertising. He launched Black Cat White Cat Music in Tokyo with his sister and composer Aska Matsumiya in 2018. In the 5 years since its foundation Black Cat White Cat Music has produced music for adverts in the global market, and has won international awards including Cannes Lions and CICLOPE Berlin, where it was named Music Company of the Year in 2020. It has also expanded its reach into film including After Yang by A24 in 2022, and several network series for major streaming services in the US and Japan. Seiya has been on the jury in several award shows, including Cannes Lions 2023 for Entertainment for Music Lions. When away from Tokyo, Seiya resides on the seaside in the beautiful city of Kobe.
