Scarlett O'Malley is a DJ, presenter and documentary maker from London. A record collector and broadcaster, she is a Rinse FM resident. Her doc 'Being Jackie Wilson' is out now on BBC Sounds.
Scarlett O’Malley brings the energy and enthusiasm of youth combined with a wealth of musical knowledge way beyond her years. Born and raised in West London but now making her mark around Europe, she is a new breed of DJ doing things on her own terms. Her tireless passion for the scene has made her one of online radio’s busiest talents. She is well known and respected for interviewing legends and trailblazers with a uniquely down-to-earth but probing style on stations like Foundation FM.

She has just finished working on her first radio documentary for BBC Radio 4, 'Being Jackie Wilson', about the soul singer mentioned and his tribute act Bobby Brooks that is debuting in September 2022 and has previously hosted and produced the Youth Club podcast which merged her passion for music, history and subculture.

She runs her own party Club Cowgirl that took over the Meeting Place bar at Glastonbury this year aims to also put on workshops for womxn looking to get into the audio and music industries and also has event and mix series The Soul Exchange.

Scarlett’s music collection is rooted in soul but reaches deep into house, minimal, jazz, funk, Latin and beyond, and has found a home for her records on The Vinyl Factory platform. Her earliest years saw her play on radio at Uni, running national events for Itchy Feet and doing three seasons in Ibiza. After returning home to London and going full bore at music, she soon became known for wide-ranging DJ sets that explore left field percussive sounds, acid and groovy. They have taken her to clubs like Fabric, Pikes Ibiza and Motion Bristol as well as Corsica Studios, Night Tales and The Cause in London and festivals such as Glastonbury, Lost Village, Love Supreme, We Out Here and more.

All of this has made Scarlett one of the most exciting new talents in dance music, and brands have been quick to take note. She is one of the faces of the Fred Perry shirt campaign A/W 2022 has also DJed and written for the brand. She has also been affiliated with Record Store Day, been interviewed by Doc Martens about music and subculture, and guested on the likes of NTS, Rinse and The Remedy Project mix series.

Because of her deep-rooted knowledge, Scarlett is often asked to host panels for the likes of Lockdown Live sponsored by Nordic Spirit, film collective Nights Global at NikeLab 1948, various panels about the music industry at the Roundhouse and has also twice hosted the Women In Music conference in Nottingham. On top of this, she has hosted events for International Women’s Day to raise money for Solace Women’s Aid, appeared on the BBC talking about advice for DJs going sober in the rave and so much more.
