Sergio van Gonter (37), better known as Reverse, began making music at the age of twelve. He started with a simple music program on his PlayStation, but music quickly became his true passion. In developing his own style, he drew inspiration from producers like Pharrell, Timbaland, and Kubus. This led to a sound that blends various music genres with hip - hop: a recognizable and distinctive vibe. In 2004, Reverse met Dutch artist Jayh. They decided to collaborate under one name, giving birth to the producer duo ‘ Art - Officials. ’ The Partysquad soon discovered this duo, saw their talent, and lent a hand by offering them studio space. In return, the young duo helped The Partysquad with productions, a partnership that proved to be golden. When Kees de Ko ning, founder and owner of the record label Top Notch, also joined the collaboration, success was inevitable. The result is likely familiar to you: together, the three parties created hits like ‘ Wat Wil Je Doen, ’ ‘ Stuk, ’ and ‘ Helemaal Naar De Klote, ’ with the latter alone racking up over 16 million streams. In 2010, Reverse built his own studio in IJburg and produced hits with Adje such as ‘ Fok Wachten, ’ ‘ Ik Ga Hard, ’ and ‘ Ik Neem Je Mee. ’ During this time, Reverse also discovered artists like Cho and Idaly , showcasing his impressive A&R skills. After achieving significant success in the Netherlands, Reverse moved to the promised land — Los Angeles. In no time, he found himself in the studio with artists like Jennifer Lopez and Nicole Scherzinger. Collaboratio ns with Chris Brown and The - Dream followed. His work with Tamar Braxton even earned him a Grammy nomination! Reverse is now back in the Netherlands with a new goal: to give young Dutch talent a chance and coach them to the top.
