Phil Horneman (NL)

For Phil the most important value in life is music. So whatever he does or wherever he is this means that Phil always finds a connection with music. As a DJ, Phil started spinning his favorite 45’s at school parties somewhere in 1979. In the eighties he runs a pirate radio station and in the nineties he starts his own cd shop (the smallest in the country!). Phil founded the name Wicked Jazz Sounds (WJS) for of his local radioshow in 1998 and was established as a company with business partner Manne van der Zee in 2002. With a collective of DJs and talented musicians WJS is best known for its weekly Sunday clubnight in the Amsterdam Sugarfactory and of course for the 7 volumes of the cd compilations of the same name. One thing you can’t accuse Phil of, is musical segregation; his sets reflect his eclectic upbringing, including everything from original jazz, funk, soul, hip-hop, house, drum & bass and beyond.
