Patrick Hinton (GB)
Patrick Hinton has been at Mixmag since 2015 and is the current Editor & Digital Director. During his time publication he has worked on award-winning journalism, including the Drum Award-winning Blackout Week in 2021, a year in which Mixmag also won Drum’s top honour, the Grand Prix - Website of the Year. Other acclaimed editorial series he’s worked on include Mixmag’s South Asian Series, Tinnitus Awareness Week and the Cost Of Living Crisis Series, for which his article investigating the impact of economic and political crises on nightlife was named by Complex as one the best pieces of music journalism of 2023. He is dedicated to covering global electronic music and associated issues in-depth, writing and commissioning features that spotlight crucial musical movements, document important history, investigate issues such as racism, discrimination, abuse and workers’ health in the industry, and championing artists worldwide who are moving the needle for dance music as a culture. He has written Mixmag cover features with leading artists such as Honey Dijon, Helena Hauff, Erika de Casier and Joy Orbison. As a speaker, he has hosted talks from Kyiv to Ibiza, on topics ranging from critical practices in music journalism to the life and careers of pivotal DJs such as Smokin’ Jo and DJ Paulette.
