Mimi Shimada (JP)
MiMi Shimada is a key industry player in the Japanese Dance Music scene. She is in the teams of artist BOOM BOOM SATELLITES, THE SPELLBOUND, JP THE WAVY etc.
She is also a member of the Independent Music Coalition Japan (IMCJ), and a co-representative of Chicks on the Mission Tokyo - an organisation that is founded to create a safe environment for females in the night life industry. She has also been the go-to person for public relations with international acts who want to do a tour and marketing / promotion in Japan.
Her attendance to ADE can educate all the interested composers from Europe and Amsterdam on how to make a move in the Japanese industry.
2001: After graduating from university in the United States, she returned to Japan and started own business.
2003: She began her career in Japan as a sales representative for one of the few aggregators that sell digital music using or iginal master
rights. She was involved in event organizing, booking foreign DJs visiting Japan, artist care, media relations, and interpretation services.
She also participated in the management of DJs and the operation of the record labels.
2006: She took charge of the international management of BOOM BOOM SATELLITES, a leading international electro-rock band from Japan
(until they ceased activities in 2016). She also handled the press for Japan's largest club, " ageHa," until its closure in 2021.
2020: She managed THE SPELLBOUND, a new band formed by BOOM BOOM SATELLITES and THE NOVEMBERS. She also became the co -
representative of Chicks on the Mission Tokyo.
2022: She managed the international activities of Japanese artists and labels.
2023: She was appointed as a committee member for IMCJ Global Marketing division.
