Iris Ell (FR)

Artist

Iris Ell is an electronic artist, singer, and songwriter based between Amsterdam and Paris.

After years of writing, singing, and playing piano during her childhood in France and the Middle East, she discovered Paris’s techno scene early on. Her early collaborations with Swedish producer sweeep on Stockholm’s Cherish Label introduced her unique blend of tightly crafted pop melodies and club influences.

In 2023 Ell released her debut single Shenkin, a collaboration with Tel Aviv-based producer Frida Melando, on Utrecht-based record label and art collective death by dagger. The tracks were featured on Apple Music’s New Music Daily & ALT CTRL playlists and selected for Beatport’s Best New Electronica charts. A remix EP followed in September of the same year.

Undergod, a collaboration with Italian producer Tuna Display, is her first fully-fledged project. Released in August 2023 via the CSCN imprint of LA/NYC-based label Cascine, Undergod premiered in Wonderland Magazine and Kaltblut Magazine and was featured in playlists by The Line of Best Fit and Apple Music’s New in Indie. The project came together while Ell juggled writing and making music with her graduate studies in Cognitive Science. Fittingly, Undergod is a nuanced, psychologically detailed work charting a relationship’s ebb and flow.

Ell recently debuted solo shows in Amsterdam and Utrecht, and composed the soundtrack for a short film by Joseff Murphy which was selected for London-based competition straight 8 and screened at the British Film Institute. After joining Sizzer’s writing camp 556 Hz, she participated in ADE Lab’s inaugural Incepted program, organized with Sony Music and SAE.
