Hiss Sound (NL)

Dutch producer Hiss Sound re-imagines the catalog of Dutch label Animist Records with a live setup consisting of a modular
synthesizer and Southeast instruments like the Lao ‘kaen’ mouthorgan, the Vietnamese ‘Đàn Bầu’ monochord and Thai instruments like the ‘klui’ and ‘Saw-u’. Hiss Sound’s debut album Taraf was released in 2022 on Animist Records. Conceived as a summit meeting of classical Indian musicians living in The Netherland in an adventurous sonic landscape created by Hiss Sound, it was viewed as a genuine new fusion of raga-based and electronic dance music. Recently Hiss Sound remixed an Apichat Pakwan track from their first ‘Angkanang’ EP on ‘Asian Tropical Bass Vol.1’, which was released by Animist Records in 2023.
