Gomes (NL)

Gomes has been one of the top players since the beginning of UK Garage in Holland. He became the resident at Speedfreax (#1 garage event in the Netherlands), and earned that spot because of his energetic and tight sets, and always keeping an eye on the dance floor. He played at every major UK Garage event you could think of. Between 2000 and 2002, newer and darker sounds derived from the garage scene. Subgenres like ‘Dubstep’ and ‘Grime’ were created, and Gomes was more attracted to these darker sounds and wanted to infect more people with this. That sound was played nowhere else, so Gomes started his own Night in Amsterdam’s Paradiso called Oi! In 2004. The night slowly grew to one of the leading Dubstep & Grime brands in Holland, with hostings on festivals like Mysteryland, Solar, 5 Days Off and ADE and sold out nights in the Paradiso, a radio show on 3voor12 and of course the Oi! Recordings.
