Floris Boogaard (NL)

The research of professor dr.ir. Floris Cornelis Boogaard focusses on climate adaptation and optimising the long term efficiency of urban Nature Based Solutions. In April 2013 Floris accepted a professorship Climateadaptation at Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen. He has over 25 years experience in consultancy, research and management now working at Deltares in the field of climate adaptation. Floris is the founder of Climate Action tools as ClimateScan.org (database with over 16.000 NBS projects) and testing NBS in international ClimateCafes to make cities more resilient to climate change. Floris is research coordinator at Building climateadaptation Fieldlab in Groningen testing over 50 climate adaptation innovations to mitigate the effects of floodings, drought and heatstress. Research fields include: climate adaptation, nature-based solutions, interdisciplinary monitoring, citizen science, water supply, stormwater quality & management and urban planning.
