Eva van Manen (NL)

Drawing from an expansive field of interest - ranging from hip hop, poetry, theater to indie and jazz music - Dutch artist, poet, theater maker, music composer and producer Eva van Manen makes the not self-evident appear evident and vice versa. Her work talks about political and social issues, combining bigger questions with the personal. This has become a point of emphasis for her debut album ‘Politiek & Liefde’ (‘Politics & Love’). Eva released two studio albums under her name, 'Politics & Love' (2018) and 'In Depth' (2021) and one EP 'Le Hérou' (2023). With her music Eva and her band play in clubs and theatres throughout the Netherlands and Belgium. With her background in theater, she creates cinematic stories, a narrative music production style combining soundscapes, field recordings, sounddesign, beats and the usage of analogue and digital instruments. Van Manen's fingerprints as a producer and composer tell as much a story as her vocabulary. She also wrote a book of poetry ‘How did we get here?’ (2021) published by publisher Hollands Diep. Together with artist and producer Josephine Zwaan, Eva co-founded in 2020 the platform rosetta.beats, a platform for and by female and gender non-conforming music producers and composers in the Netherlands. rosetta. represents, coaches and teaches young f / x music producers in the next step in their musical development, to create more representation from out of a inclusive perspective on music production.
