It’s likely that all connaisseurs of Dutch hip hop have multiple tracks by Davey Donovan (Davey Soenarto, 1989) in their playlist. The Amsterdam-based producer – who was accepted by the Rotterdam music school in 2009 – has been active in the scene since a young age, and through the years has been building an impressive catalog and gathering millions of streams. Musical diversity are key words to his sound. Layered or minimalistic, his beats are built on emotion. From warm, yet raw hip hop sounds to modern synths and rhythms: Davey produces all across the board, which makes a go-to choice for different kinds of artists across the country. He produced music for big name artists like Sticks, Lijpe, Jonna Fraser, Yade Lauren, SBMG, Murda en Sevn Alias. He also contributed to the golden compilation album Gate 16, produced the title track of Hef’s golden number one album Koud, and was responsible for 8 tracks on his album Rook, which came in 2nd in the charts.
