Danny ’Buddah’ Morales got his introduction to house music as a street promoter for the influential house label, Cutting Records, while spinning hip-hop and electro during its formative years. Pretty soon, his affection for house music lead to remix and production work, forging his connections with the people in this nascent genre. Being in the right place at the right time, he was afforded the opportunities to work with such luminaries in the dance music industry such as Todd Terry, Masters at Work and 2 in the Room, after he came up with the the worldwide scorcher "Moody" feat Dm binxster which was featured on Danny Tenaglia's Global Underground Mix from Athens, as well as played by everyone from John Digweed to Carl Cox.
Beside his studio work, his career as a DJ evolved and flourished. His first residency was at the famed Palladium in New York City, which lead to other prestigious and important floors such as The Red Zone, Tilt, Warsaw, and Robots. His name catapulted to international recognition when he was asked to produce a weekly radio show for Choice FM in London - a hit beyond all expectation which ran for five years. As a result, he was bringing his New-York sounds into Europe and beyond, including Pacha, Stereo, Ministry of Sound, Zurich Street parade and Angels of Love in Italy. Still to this day, he tours regularly around the world.
Mercedes Martinez started her career at the age of 5 playing the piano, where she played at Carnegie Hall. at the age of 15. Deep down inside this was her calling. It wasn’t until her early 20's that she got invited to her first Grammy Awards . Being there for the performances and among so much talent, she realized she needed to be immersed in it much more than just a listener. She wanted to participate.
She traveled to Dublin, where for the following two years, she began studying vocal and piano lessons. During that time, she work at Spirit (now Academy) nightclub, where she met and hung out with well-known DJs and producers from all over the world, who came to play at this famous hotspot. Here, she listened the various sounds being played, which formed her own taste in dance music. From those early experiences, she decided she wanted to further her knowledge so she attended school at Institute of Audio Reserch in her hometown of New York City. Once here, she connected with many industry insiders like Jonathan Peters,and Buddah Morales , It was after meeting Danny, they decided to forge a team and start producing together.
Evil Kidz is the team of Mercedes Martinez and Danny ‘Buddah’ Morales. Both have a rich history in dance music as both consumers and industry insiders. Together they have started a sound of their own that will turn heads in the dance industry. Now with their releases 'Headmaster & No Sugar Fade" on Albizu Music they are ready to take the scene by storm.
