D.O.D (GB)
Artist
A musical pioneer and champion of his own #FutureJack sound, British DJ and producer D.O.D (Dan O’Donnell) continues to blitz all before him, on account of his productions and uniquely skilled craftsmanship behind the decks.
Breaking through in 2014 via heavy support from Laidback Luke on the iconic artist’s Mixmash Records label, it was the duo’s collaboration ‘Flashing Lights, which catapulted D.O.D into primetime consciousness, with the Manchester -born innovator later performing at Ultra Europe ahead of ‘Zipper’, the release which kickstarted his instantly unique ‘Future Jack’ style.
The track, which followed collaborations with Tommy Trash - and Afrojack, on the hugely popular ‘Taking You Back’ - soon pushed Dan’s career into the path of Axwell, with the Swedish House Mafia legend signing the burgeoning talent to his Axtone Records label. It was here, under the Swede’s tutorage, that D.O.D’s signature style started to truly take off, with 2017 record ‘Sixes’ (“That track changed my life,” beams D.O.D), encompassing his thunderous sound ahead of a support set for Axwell Λ Ingrosso in London.
Utilising 3-4 CDJs, DJM900 and an RMX-1000, alongside his own personal edits and bootlegs, D.O.D’s dynamic skills as a DJ are undoubtedly one of the Brit’s key strengths. Arming his sets with an eclectic range of selections, in addition to a number of trusty fx, his innate ability to read a crowd marks Dan as a truly top-tier live performer, with thousands flocking to his sets worldwide.
Adopting a global schedule, which has included recent performances at the likes of Tomorrowland, Creamfields, Ultra Miami, Nameless Festival,
Parookaville, Medusa, Balaton Sound, Womb and London’s Ministry of Sound, D.O.D’s recent ADE showcase ‘D.O.D & Friends’ saw the UK star joined by an array of special guests, with all proceeds from the event donated to mental health charity, Mind.
Armed with an insatiable back-catalogue of Beatport chart-topping
productions, including ‘Satisfy’, ‘Love’s Gonna Get You’, ‘Unforgettable’,
‘Incline’, ‘Bones’, and 2018’s Axtone whopper ‘Glow’, Dan’s heavy-studio time has also produced collaborations with the likes of Fedde Le Grand, Sander van Doorn and Moksi.
With a huge list of unreleased material just waiting to explode onto the scene, including fan favourite ‘Tiny Voices’, the dance world continues to clamour for the unmistakably vibrant beats of D.O.D - one of the industry’s most potently exciting acts.
The first quarter of 2019 has seen Dan return to the box at Ministry of Sound, release his long awaited single ‘According To Me’ through Axtone plus join a rare breed of DJs who have appeared multiple times on Pioneer DJ sounds including the likes of Carl Cox, Roger Sanchez, Sneak, Laidback Luke, Hot Since 82 and KiNK.
