CHICH (LU)

Carlos Fernandes, better known as CHICH, is a Portuguese DJ and producer born in Mozambique in 1973 and raised in Luxembourg. Influenced early on by bands like Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, Front 242, and U2, as well as the Detroit minimal-techno movement of the 1980s, he helped introduce these styles to Luxembourg.

He has been a key figure in Luxembourg's music scene for decades, organizing influential events. He started as a local DJ, but his distinctive sound soon attracted international attention, leading to gigs worldwide. His career, which began 34 years ago, shows no signs of slowing down. "Underground is and will always be my life," he says.

As a producer, he is well-respected in the industry. Beyond his solo work, he has collaborated with friends such as Danny Casseau aka Trax-X, Vic Miranda, dj tuttle, and A.Paul, releasing tracks on labels like Naked Lunch, Ekho Port, TK Records, and Subsounds. He co-founded the label Black Pitch Music with Danny Casseau and later, Modulhertz rec with DJ Tuttle. In 2013, he joined the Naked Lunch project at the invitation of his longtime friend A.Paul. As a resident DJ at Naked Lunch label nights, he also played a significant role in artist management and event organization.

In 2020, the artist embarked on a new venture by opening the Ground Luxembourg in the heart of the City. As the country's only 100% electronic music club, CHICH and his team are dedicated to maintaining high standards of quality while exploring new frontiers in the electronic music landscape and supporting emerging artists who share their core values, dedication, and passion. The club has hosted renowned artists like The Advent, DJ Rush, DJ Bone, Torsten Kanzler, A.Paul, Bloody Mary, and Marco Bailey, to only name a few.

CHICH’s career, spanning decades, has seen him pioneer the electronic music scene in Luxembourg and impact the global stage with his innovative sounds and contributions to various labels and projects. With a passion for underground techno, he continues to push boundaries and nurture emerging talent, solidifying his position as a driving force in the electronic music landscape.
