Alexei Barrionuevo (US)

Alexei Barrionuevo is an internationally traveled, multilingual journalist and documentary filmmaker. He has worked for premier news organizations, reporting on the music industry, global economics, political and social issues, major breaking news and historic criminal trials. Alexei is currently the Business Editor at TheWrap, overseeing coverage of Hollywood film, television and technology business news. He previously served as the International Editor at Billboard, and before that as a staff writer and columnist at The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. He has worked as a correspondent based in Brazil, Belgium and Venezuela, and also helped cover the Iraq war in 2003. Alexei directed and co-produced the feature-length documentary, “Waiting For The Drop: Rise of the Superstar DJs,” which chronicles the rise of EDM in the United States and features Paul Oakenfold, Hardwell, Kaskade, Tiësto, Sebastian Ingrosso, among others. A native of Chicago, Alexei is based in Los Angeles.
