Alada (BR)
Originating from Nova Iguaçu on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro, Alada delves deeper into Afro-Brazilian religious traditions, forging a profound link between spirituality and music. Inspired by their mother's dream, Alada adeptly became a percussionist in the "Terreiro," recognized as "Ogans." Mastery of intricate rhythms, showcased through drums and atabaques within the "Terreiro," not only fulfilled familial aspirations but also heightened Alada's comprehension of rhythm and its profound influence on bodily movements.
“I remember from a very young age being very curious about how music influenced our moods and I always tried to do research on it, but due to the lack of resources I was never able to delve much deeper Into the more theoretical knowledge of music production, but even so, there is something inside from the terreiro called: Vocal Learning, where knowledge is passed on to new generations through speech, so this helped a lot.”
